     International Yoga Day 


                        International yoga day is celebrated every year on 21st June as a globle event. International yoga day started from the year 2015. The idea of the International Day of Yoga was first proposed by Narendra Modi during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. The first International yoga day was observed around the world on 1st June, 2015. Since then, it is celebrated annually every year. 

                  A draft resolution on International day of yoga introduced by India's Ambassador to UN, received support from 177 nations, the highest number of co-sponsors for any UNGA resolution. Thereafter, the United Nations declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga. The aim of World Yoga Day is make people aware of the benefits of yoga in the world. 

                Yoga is an ancient art which was originated in India around five thousand years ago. Yoga is a good practice if one does in daily life. It helps us to live healthy life style and better life forever. Yoga plays a significant role in our daily life and one must learn to practice it so as to improve their overall mental and physical well being. 

                 Yoga asans make the body strong and flexible. The practice of Pranayama regulates the purification of the internal system and the organs. The energy that is generated in the body through physical practices of asanas is the channeled into meditation or Dhyan for stability, Peace and calm. 

                 The Day aims to raise awareness about the benefits of practicing yoga around the world. The day 21st June is selected as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares a special singnificance in many parts of the world. 

                 From the perspective of yoga, the summer solstice marks the transition to Dakshinayana. It is believed that Lord Shiva, the first yogi, is said to have began imparting the knowledge of yoga to the rest of mankind on this day, and became the first guru. 

                 Covid-19 has put enormus pressure on people's physical and mental well-being . Yoga can be a powerfull tool to deal with the lockdown's uncertainly and isolation. During lockdown and in its aftermonth, an increasing number of practitioners have turned to online classes to regain balance and strength.
